Job summary

Excellus BCBS is seeking a Publishing Systems Engineer to design and maintain electronic publishing workflows. The role focuses on programming within document-generation systems and ensuring accurate, timely generation of correspondence and statements.

The position requires strong analytical skills, experience with XML/HTML data structures, and familiarity with database concepts. Remote work is possible on a case-by-case basis under the Excellus Talent Acquisition program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Variable Data composition and related tools.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; works well in a team.
• Familiar with publication layouts and data structures (XML/HTML).
• Experience with SQL/Oracle/DB2 and scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Develops code and resolves electronic publishing issues.
• Creates workflows and documents via variable data composition systems.
• Documents specifications and test plans; reviews results.
• Mentors junior developers and participates in technical discussions.
• Provides on-call production support and adheres to privacy policies.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

Associate degree in Computer Science or Electronic Printing with two years’ experience
