Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Project Accountant to oversee and report on project cost accounting remotely, preferably in the West region (California/Nevada). The role requires 7+ years of corporate accounting experience and strong GAAP knowledge.

Deltek Vantagepoint experience and AP full cycle exposure are highly valued. Responsibilities include interfacing with operations and multiple accounting functions, managing invoicing, and supporting collections and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience required.
• CMA or CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Seven or more years of corporate accounting experience preferred.
• Prior project accounting experience within architecture, engineering, and/or construction industry preferred.
• Experience with Prevailing Wage.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
• Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint preferred, ERP system experience required.
• Must have AP full cycle exposure.
• Mergers and acquisitions experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and report on project cost accounting in adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.
• Act as a liaison between operations and corporate accounting functions (AP, payroll, etc.).
• Review and analyze KPIs to support operations and identify improvements.
• Identify, research, and resolve project issues.
• Reconcile and analyze project cost reports for timely reporting.
• Assist Regional Controller with account reports and collections.
• Coordinate with project billers and managers to ensure accurate project setups.
• Update client budgets and change orders; provide evaluation and reporting.
• Manage monthly invoicing for projects.
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices.
• Contact customers regarding past due balances up to 90 days; assist with collections after 90 days.
• Prepare management reporting schedules for collections/accounts receivable.
• Assist with annual audit preparations.
• Maintain petty cash reconciliations and daily cash receipts.
