Job summary

ROI Search Group is partnering with a prominent healthcare system in Indianapolis to recruit a Supervisor, Professional Coding. The role leads a remote-leaning team of 11–15 professional coders with quarterly onsite attendance in Indianapolis.

The ideal candidate will oversee audits, onboarding, training, and staff development while providing hands-on support as needed. Strong leadership, process improvement, and regulatory compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five years of professional coding experience, preferably in physician practices or hospital-based services.
• Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required; leadership focus.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred; ability to coach and develop employees.
• Experience with coder audits, education, denial management, and productivity/quality monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of professional coding guidelines, E/M coding, and regulatory compliance.
• Epic experience is required.
• Ability to work effectively under deadlines with high accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead within a primarily remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for 11 to 15 professional coders.
• Monitor performance, productivity, quality, attendance, and department goals.
• Lead monthly coder audits and deliver timely feedback and education.
• Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development.
• Set expectations, hold staff accountable, and foster collaboration.
• Address performance concerns and manage coaching and disciplinary actions.
• Serve as primary resource for coding questions, staff development, and guidance.
• Maintain strong remote team communication and engagement.
• Provide hands-on support with coding queues when needed.
• Maintain and update coding resources and reference materials.
