Job summary

Ring & DuChateau Consulting Engineers is seeking a Processing Archivist to organize, describe, and preserve historical records and digital assets. You will maintain inventories, ensure adherence to archival standards, and support researchers with access to materials.

The role emphasizes metadata accuracy, confidentiality, and collaboration with records managers, IT staff, and researchers to enhance information retrieval and long-term preservation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in archival processing or records management preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Process Archival Collections: review, organize, arrange, describe collections.
• Inventory and Classification: create inventories, finding aids, indexes, and catalog records.
• Preservation and Conservation: identify materials needing special handling.
• Digital Records Management: organize, digitize, and manage electronic records.
• Metadata and Documentation: develop descriptive metadata and summaries.
• Quality Control: verify completeness and accuracy of materials.
• Research Support: assist researchers in locating information.
• Confidentiality and Compliance: follow retention policies and privacy rules.
• Database Maintenance: update catalogs and DMS systems.
• Workflow Improvement: identify efficiency improvements.
• Reporting: prepare processing reports and statistics.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with records managers and IT.
