Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Process Tuner Field Engineer for our Power and Water Solutions team. This role can be based in Houston, TX or remote for candidates with Ovation DCS experience and the ability to travel up to 80% across North America.

You will provide advanced process tuning for boiler-related processes, work at client sites with operations teams to optimize productivity, and develop startup/tuning activities for major retrofit projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum eight years of field engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of power plant operation and controls.
• Knowledge of boiler/turbine control schemes in conventional and CC plants.
• Experience tuning conventional, CC, or renewable plants.
• Willingness and ability to travel ~80% in North America.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced process tuning for Boiler or BOP processes.
• Collaborate with plant operations at sites to optimize steam/electricity productivity.
• Develop startup and tuning activities for major retrofit projects.
• Generate and store tuning reports for site tuning.
• Lead startup and tuning with the stimulation group for high fidelity systems.
• Conduct site acceptance and performance testing to meet targets.
• Advise engineering/management teams on complex technical problems.
• Engage customers to review service needs and system adds.
• Advise on engineered system projects and supervise subcontractors.
• Assist in hiring Field Engineers and participate in evaluations.
• Investigate warranty claims with knowledge of policies.
