Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a remote Primary Care Coder to join our 100% remote team of 10 coders, an educator, and an associate director. You will evaluate medical records, assign ICD/CPT codes, and ensure accurate documentation for reimbursement.

Active CPC or equivalent certification is required; production targets approximate 75 encounters per day. Equipment is provided on hire, with ongoing training and support throughout your career at Banner Health.

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification; active status.
• Additional certifications such as CCS, CCS-P, or CCA preferred.
• Six months of professional coding experience in healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles per AHIMA/AAPC guidance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates medical records and assigns ICD/CPT codes per guidelines.
• Abstracts diagnoses, procedures, and documents into EMR with accuracy.
• Ensures compliance with coding rules and regulatory standards.
• Compiles daily/monthly reports for analysis and research.
• Works remotely with a team to maintain productivity and quality.
