Job summary

ABB is seeking a Power Electronics BESS Field Technician to support energy projects across client sites in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with remote work options. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and service BESS systems, PV, and EV charging interfaces, driving reliability and performance.

Lead with safety and advanced diagnostics, collaborate with clients and teams, and stay current with grid standards while delivering high-quality maintenance and commissioning on energy storage hardware.

Qualifications

Electrical Engineering Degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years of BESS technician experience.
Hands-on experience with microgrids, BESS, solar PV, and EV charging systems.
Strong knowledge of LV/MV electrical systems and power electronics.
Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and field service in energy environments.
NFPA 70E certification preferred; proficient with Office software.

Responsibilities

Lead installation, commissioning, and maintenance of integrated microgrid systems.
Act as on-site SME for power electronics equipment.
Coordinate system integration across PV, BESS, EV charging, and grid interfaces.
Provide technical leadership and safety training to engineers and technicians.
Stay current with grid codes and emerging technologies.
