Job summary

Applied Engineering in the United States seeks an Electrical Design Engineer – Power Distribution. The role focuses on designing low and medium voltage distribution equipment, including switchgear and switchboards, from concept through manufacturing and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 1-2+ years of experience in electrical engineering or power distribution design.
• Experience with low/medium voltage AC systems.
• Knowledge of electrical ratings and system design principles.
• Experience selecting electrical components for applications.
• Experience with electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN).
• Familiarity with NEC and UL electrical standards.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and support low voltage and medium voltage power distribution products from concept through manufacturing, testing, and implementation.
• Research and select components based on requirements, standards, and ratings.
• Develop electrical designs and technical documentation to support manufacturing, testing, certification, and customer needs.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, quality, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and cost-effective solutions.
• Support product validation, prototype testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to design of switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, generators, and energy storage systems.
