Job summary

Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer – Power Distribution with a focus on low and medium voltage systems. You will research components, develop schematics, and document engineering deliverables to support manufacturing, testing, certification, and customer needs.

You will collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, quality, and other teams to deliver reliable, cost-efficient power distribution solutions for switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 1-2+ years of electrical design experience in power distribution.
• Experience with low/medium voltage AC systems and electrical ratings.
• Experience selecting components for specific applications.
• Experience designing switchgear, switchboards, and related equipment.
• Familiarity with NEC/UL standards and electrical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and support LV/MV power distribution products from concept through manufacturing, testing, and implementation.
• Research, evaluate, and select electrical components based on requirements and system ratings.
• Develop electrical designs, schematics, and technical documentation for manufacturing and testing.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, quality, and cross-functional teams.
• Support product validation, prototype testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, generators, and energy storage systems.
• Apply NEC/UL standards to ensure safe, compliant designs.
• Contribute to projects that impact communities in the greater Minneapolis metro.
