Job summary

Rome Health in New York seeks a Professional/Physician Practice Coder to review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for physician services. This role ensures coding is complete, accurate, and compliant with guidelines and payer requirements.

You will collaborate with providers to clarify documentation, support coding reviews and appeals, identify trends, and uphold coding quality, productivity, and patient confidentiality in a remote work environment after training.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional and physician practice coding for ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and guidelines.
• Ability to interpret clinical documentation and assign accurate, compliant codes.
• Familiarity with Medicare regulations, payer requirements, and NCCI edits.

Responsibilities

• Review professional/physician practice documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers.
• Ensure coding complies with official guidelines, payer requirements and regulatory edits.
• Identify missing documentation and support code assignment with providers.
• Assist providers with documentation and coding questions while maintaining compliance.
• Collaborate with Business Office to resolve edits, denials and aging encounters.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS updates and regulatory changes.
