Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Professional Coder in Health Information Management to review, analyze, and validate CPT and ICD-10 codes and charges, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and payer guidelines. This remote role requires attention to accuracy and timeliness.

The coder will understand NCCI edits, RVUs, and maintain productivity and quality standards while assisting with denials, audits, and coding workflow testing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. is required.
• 1-3 years experience in provider professional fee coding is preferred.
• Computer experience in Windows environment with Word and Excel; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Review CPT, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, HCPCS, modifiers and charges to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and payer guidelines.
• Perform accurate and compliant coding of CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis codes.
• Understand National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and RVUs as appropriate for the role.
• Ensure established productivity and quality standards are met.
• Review denials, research and respond appropriately and timely.
• Perform audits as determined by management.
• Assist with testing for coding workflows and participate in meetings.
