Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Physician Coder III for a remote role in New Jersey. You will assign CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes, abstract encounters, and ensure documentation supports charges while maintaining quality standards.

3+ years’ physician/profee coding experience and knowledge of E/M guidelines are required; AHIMA/AAPC credentials are preferred. Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 3+ years coding, with Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facility preferred.
• Focus in Physician and Profee coding; knowledge of E/M guidelines.
• Proficient in coding office/outpatient procedures.
• Strong understanding of physiology, medical terms, and anatomy.
• Typing speed and accuracy; proficient computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assign CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes.
• Abstract patient encounters and ensure data accuracy.
• Identify documentation deficiencies.
• Verify documentation supports diagnoses, procedures and charges.
• Identify reportable elements and quality measures.
• Query physicians to clarify information.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
