Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey seeks an Outpatient Coder I to accurately abstract data under ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines across the network. The role includes data entry into the EMR and physicians' queries when needed.

Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, at least 1 year of professional coding experience, solid medical terminology knowledge, strong typing and communication skills, and the ability to meet coding quality and productivity standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of coding for professional services.
• Strong understanding of physiology, medical terms and anatomy.
• Proficiency in typing with accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes to clinical services for reimbursement and data collection.
• Abstract patient encounters with diagnostic, surgical, and procedural information.
• Query physicians for missing or incomplete documentation.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per policies.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and assist with corrections.
