Job summary

SmithRx is seeking a remote, six-month contract Pharmacy Technician to assist members, providers and pharmacies in navigating prescriptions, verifying coverage, and processing prior authorization requests. You will triage cases and help ensure timely, clinically appropriate, cost-effective medication therapy.

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacy Technician license is required.
• PBM/health-plan prior authorization experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and empathy with the ability to multitask and follow protocols.

Responsibilities

• Verify eligibility and drug coverage to determine claims processing.
• Triage clinical review for prior authorization requests per protocols.
• Review prior authorizations and gather complete information from prescribers and pharmacies.
• Coordinate outreach to gather required data for authorization.
• Build and adjust authorizations within the claim adjudication system.
• Navigate drug products and formulations to support accurate adjudication.
• Assess workflows to support sound clinical decisions across departments.
• Assist across teams to guide processes for timely medication coverage.
• Determine when to refer to Pharmacist for denial and escalation.
• Reach out to external stakeholders for approvals on dollar-limited drugs.
