Job summary

SmithRx is hiring for a remote contract role in the United States to support members, providers, and pharmacies with drug access decisions. You will verify coverage, triage prior authorizations, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely, cost-effective medication therapy compliant with plan designs.

The position requires 2–4 years as a Pharmacy Technician, strong communication, empathy, and the ability to multitask while navigating complex benefit plans and PBM rules.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Experience with prior authorization review and PBM/health plan processes.
• Strong communication skills with empathy and active listening.

Responsibilities

• Verify eligibility and drug coverage under the plan benefit design for claims processing.
• Triage clinical review for prior authorization requests per protocols.
• Review prior authorization requests using criteria and plan rules with outreach to prescribers and pharmacies.
• Organize and prioritize multiple requests to ensure timely case management.
• Build and adjust authorizations within the adjudication system.
• Navigate drug products and perform basic calculations for accurate adjudication.
• Coordinate across teams to respond to questions and escalations.
• Assess member clinical situations against policies and decide on approval or referral to Pharmacist.
