Job summary

FOCUS seeks an experienced personal lines underwriter to review applications, inspections, and endorsements, determining eligibility and coverage within underwriting rules. You will support agents and clients, explain policy forms, and uphold service standards.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of underwriting experience, a Bachelor’s degree, and a 2-20/4-40 license or CPCU/CIC preferred. Hours are 8–5 or 9–6 ET, with remote and hybrid opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Property/Casualty insurance underwriting principles.
• Ability to analyze complex applications and make informed risk decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Review and process applications for personal lines to determine eligibility.
• Analyze inspections and endorsements to make risk decisions within guidelines.
• Accept or reject applications and determine coverage, pricing, and endorsements with accuracy.
• Maintain agent relationships and provide guidance on forms and coverage.
