Job summary

Common Ground is hiring for a remote Peer Support Specialist position. The role supports callers via phone, text, or chat, helping them develop coping skills and access crisis resources. A MI residency and MDHHS Peer Support certification are required, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• Permanent year-round Michigan residency.
• MDHHS Certified Peer Support Specialist credential required.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Login to helpline applications.
• Accept incoming calls, chats and/or texts.
• Support callers to develop coping skills and wellness plans.
• Connect callers to the MiCAL crisis line as needed.
• Provide information on community resources such as shelters, food pantries, and mental health services.
• Document each encounter while in-call.
• Coordinate with Shift Supervisor and MiCAL staff for support.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
