Job summary

The Heritage Group is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support day-to-day payroll cycles across Workday, handling data entry, auditing, and finalization for hourly and salary employees. This role is remote with occasional travel to our Indianapolis offices; candidates must reside within 75 miles of Indianapolis, IN.

Key duties include payroll and payroll tax support, processing direct deposits and pay cards, garnishments, union payroll, and post-payroll reporting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years direct payroll processing experience.
• Experience in union work environment.
• Proficient with Workday HCM and Microsoft Excel.
• Preferred experience using AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide payroll and payroll tax support across the pay cycle using Workday.
• Review and audit payroll data for hourly and salary employees.
• Process direct deposit, pay cards, and tax forms.
• Manage payroll inbox via Fresh Service ticketing system.
• Coordinate with unions and handle garnishments and child support.
• Assist with year-end and audit requests and data reporting.
• Support process improvements and cross-team collaboration.
