Job summary

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. is seeking a Payroll Specialist III to join our team remotely, serving the West Coast (California, Oregon or Washington). The role focuses on handling in-house payroll processing, timesheets, and related reporting for a multi-state environment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunity for professional

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred.
• Five or more (5+) years of experience handling computerized, multi-state payroll administration (preferably in-house) and knowledge of payroll laws and regulations in multi-state environment, including prevailing wage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Intermediate to advanced Excel Skills (reporting, data analysis, data manipulation, pivot tables, etc.).
• Strong computer skills, including familiarity of imports/exports.
• Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process certified payroll and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements.
• Prepare and issue paychecks.
• Calculate and audit timesheets and make corrections as necessary.
• Process labor adjustments.
• Establish and maintain payroll files in accordance with audit requirements.
• Maintain records of leave and nontaxable wages.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
• Research payroll tax issues and manage tax applications.
• Process new hires, terminations, manual/out of cycle checks, bonuses, salary adjustments, garnishments, and new hire state reporting.
• Create basic ad-hoc reports on earnings, taxes, and deductions as required by management.
• Respond to audit requests and provide requested documentation.
