Job summary

Cooley seeks a Payroll Manager to join the Accounting and Finance Team to oversee hands-on payroll execution across the US, including remote workers. The role requires strong multi-state payroll experience and expertise with major HRIS platforms.

You will manage end-to-end processing, ensure tax compliance, coordinate with the UK payroll team for secondees, and supervise payroll staff while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive multi-state payroll experience.
• Hands-on with enterprise HRIS/Payroll platforms (Workday, ADP, UKG).
• Proficient in MS Office and HR applications like iManage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for US employees across states including remote workers.
• Audit new employee tax setups and payroll registers for accuracy; process semi-monthly payrolls.
• Manage time logs approvals in Workday and coordinate timely payroll disbursements.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, year-end processes (W-2s) and audits; liaise with tax authorities.
• Setup and administer insurance deductions and fringe benefits in payroll system.
• Coordinate with UK payroll team on secondees’ taxes and UK shadow payroll issues.
• Supervise and mentor payroll staff; manage staffing and workload.
