Job summary

Pro‑Vac is seeking a Payroll Lead to serve as the technical expert for our payroll department, handling multi‑state payroll, certified payroll, and union payroll while driving process improvements. The role supports HR, Finance, and Operations in a remote capacity with strict adherence to state tax and payroll rules.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of multi‑state payroll experience, advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with Paylocity or similar HRIS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience.
• Experience across multiple legal entities.
• Strong knowledge of certified payroll administration.
• Experience with prevailing wage compliance.
• Experience administering union payroll and fringe benefit reporting.
• Strong payroll auditing and reconciliation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly payroll processing across multiple companies and states.
• Manage certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting.
• Administer union payroll and fringe benefit remittances.
• Review payroll audits and resolve discrepancies before finalization.
• Support payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Serve as Paylocity subject-matter expert.
• Troubleshoot payroll issues and improve payroll processes.
• Mentor Payroll Specialists and partner with HR, Finance, and Operations.
• Provide backup leadership to the Payroll Manager.
