Payroll Administrator – Remote
Compensation: $24.00 per hour
Nuvia Staffing is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Payroll Administrator to support a rapidly growing organization in California. This is a hands-on payroll and timekeeping role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent follow-through, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
The ideal candidate will have experience working directly with Rippling and MITC, be highly proficient in Google Sheets, and understand California wage-and-hour compliance.
Review, audit, and process payroll using Rippling and MITC
Monitor employee time and attendance, including hours submitted, schedules, missed punches, and corrections
Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to time submissions, overtime, meal/rest periods, and attendance
Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
Prepare and maintain payroll-related reports and tracking spreadsheets
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to payroll, timekeeping, and compliance
Monitor the organization's California compliance score and identify areas requiring attention or improvement
Maintain accurate payroll and timekeeping records
Work closely with management to resolve payroll and timekeeping issues
Partner with management to train new hires on MITC and proper hour submission procedures
Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding timekeeping and payroll processes
Review, revise, and update SOPs, payroll procedures, and related policies
Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to payroll and timekeeping workflows
Ensure payroll practices remain aligned with applicable California requirements
Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll, wage, and personnel information
$24 - $24Hourly Wage
Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on payroll or payroll administration experience
Direct experience processing payroll and conducting payroll audits
Experience with Rippling is preferred and MITC is required
Strong understanding of timekeeping and attendance systems
Advanced or highly proficient Google Sheets skills
Strong reporting and data-analysis capabilities
Experience investigating payroll and timekeeping discrepancies
Knowledge of California wage-and-hour requirements
Familiarity with Title 14 or Title 22 regulations preferred
Experience creating, revising, and maintaining SOPs and policies
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with management
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and compliance-minded. This is not simply a payroll data-entry position. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for reviewing information, identifying inconsistencies, investigating the underlying issues, and working with management to ensure accurate and compliant payroll.
Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, human services, residential services, or other regulated environments is highly desirable.
