Job summary

ACLED, a nonprofit conflict data organization, is hiring a Payroll Coordinator to manage full payroll cycles for the US and international locations. This fully remote role prefers EST working hours and reports to the Senior Finance Coordinator.

You will collaborate with HR, external payroll providers, and pension funds; ensure compliance with US and international regulations; lead payroll process improvements and support audits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in an equivalent payroll role.
• Experience in nonprofit finances.
• Experience with payroll administration.
• Experience with domestic and international PEOs.
• Fluency in English.
• Proficient with Excel and QuickBooks.
• Ability to work remotely with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle (nationally and internationally) via our stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness calculations provided.
• Process and validate the monthly payroll input and ensure correct mutation processing in function of salary payments.
• Reconcile entries into the accounting system to assert the accuracy of transactions.
• Ensure our time & attendance tool (Humanity) is up to date and monitors if it’s processed correctly.
• Consult with the HR team concerning exceptions and payroll issues, escalate urgent matters to supervisors when needed.
• Interfaces with external vendors, pension funds, independent Financial Consultants and maintain an excellent relationship with all parties.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and other legal legislations.
• Be the point of contact with payroll providers for tax fillings when necessary.
• Support Finance team for audits engagements necessary.
• Answer questions from team members and business partners regarding compensation, benefits, taxes and employee insurances.
• Identify, lead and execute projects regarding payroll process & system improvements.
• Provide support for the Human Resources department where relevant.
• Other duties as required.
