Job summary

ACLED is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to oversee national and international payroll, coordinating with HR, our US payroll provider, and international PEOs. This fully remote role prefers EST hours and requires US work authorization. The start date is October 2026, reporting to the Senior Finance Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in payroll or equivalent role in nonprofit finance.
• Experience with international payroll and PEOs.
• Proficient with Excel, QuickBooks, and data management systems.
• Fluent in English; able to work remotely with limited supervision.
• Degree in HR or accounting (Bachelor or Diploma).

Responsibilities

• Manage full payroll cycle nationally and internationally with stakeholders.
• Process monthly payroll input and mutation processing for salary payments.
• Reconcile entries in the accounting system for accuracy.
• Ensure Humanity time & attendance tool is up to date and accurate.
• Escalate urgent payroll issues to HR and supervisors as needed.
• Interface with external vendors, pension funds and consultants.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
• Be the point of contact with payroll providers for tax filings.
• Support audits and respond to compensation, benefits and taxes questions.
• Lead payroll process and system improvement projects.
