Job summary

micro1 is seeking a Payroll and Accounts Payable Analyst to own payroll and vendor payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while adhering to controls. You will manage end-to-end payroll, 401(k) contributions, deductions, and vendor invoices in a fully remote, fast-paced startup.

You’ll collaborate with finance to reconcile to the general ledger, optimize cash flow, and support audits. Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and multi-state knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2-4 years of hands-on payroll and/or accounts payable experience.
• Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and wage-and-hour compliance.
• Solid understanding of A/P processes, GL coding, and accrual accounting fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with a payroll platform and an ERP system.
• Strong command of Google Sheets and Excel.
• High degree of accuracy and discretion when handling confidential payroll and financial data.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage recurring deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll processing across all pay cycles, including new hires and terminations.
• Calculate, reconcile, and remit payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and 401(k).
• Manage full accounts payable lifecycle: invoice intake, GL coding, approvals, vendor payments.
• Perform three-way matching of invoices to POs and receipts, resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain vendor master data, collect W-9s, and prepare annual 1099s.
• Reconcile payroll and A/P subledgers to GL and prepare journal entries.
• Monitor aging and terms to optimize cash flow and early-payment discounts.
• Administer employee expense reimbursements and corporate card programs.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and vendor payment questions with professionalism.
• Support audits with schedules, documentation, and reconciliations.
• Strengthen internal controls across payroll and A/P; identify automation opportunities.
