Job summary

Business Wire is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to independently manage U.S. payroll operations and assist with international payroll activities. The role focuses on accurate, compliant end-to-end payroll processes and strong data analysis.

You will lead payroll projects, work with HRIS and external vendors, and support audits and regulatory reporting while maintaining confidentiality and integrity in a global environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience.
• 3+ years with Workday payroll modules.
• 3+ years of experience with Workday report writing and data analysis.
• 2+ years of U.S. payroll tax compliance.
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP).
• Strong report writing and data analysis skills.
• Ability to work independently in a global environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage end-to-end U.S. payroll operations, including off-cycle payrolls and adjustments.
• Analyze payroll data to identify compliance risks and operational issues.
• Research and resolve complex payroll matters with independence.
• Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
• Lead payroll projects and cross-functional initiatives with HRIS and vendors.
• Provide guidance to Payroll Manager and Director on compliance and controls.
• Serve as Workday Payroll/Time Tracking resource and support testing/releases.
• Perform U.S. payroll reconciliations and control activities.
• Identify and implement payroll process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Support quarterly, year-end, and audit activities, including W-2 processing.
