micro1 is seeking a Payroll and Accounts Payable Analyst to own payroll and vendor payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while adhering to controls. You will manage end-to-end payroll, 401(k) contributions, deductions, and vendor invoices in a fully remote, fast-paced startup.

You’ll collaborate with finance to reconcile to the general ledger, optimize cash flow, and support audits. Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and multi-state knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on payroll and/or accounts payable experience.
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and wage-and-hour compliance.
  • Solid understanding of A/P processes, GL coding, and accrual accounting fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with a payroll platform and an ERP system.
  • Strong command of Google Sheets and Excel.
  • High degree of accuracy and discretion when handling confidential payroll and financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage recurring deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing across all pay cycles, including new hires and terminations.
  • Calculate, reconcile, and remit payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and 401(k).
  • Manage full accounts payable lifecycle: invoice intake, GL coding, approvals, vendor payments.
  • Perform three-way matching of invoices to POs and receipts, resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain vendor master data, collect W-9s, and prepare annual 1099s.
  • Reconcile payroll and A/P subledgers to GL and prepare journal entries.
  • Monitor aging and terms to optimize cash flow and early-payment discounts.
  • Administer employee expense reimbursements and corporate card programs.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries and vendor payment questions with professionalism.
  • Support audits with schedules, documentation, and reconciliations.
  • Strengthen internal controls across payroll and A/P; identify automation opportunities.

Payroll and Accounts Payable Analyst

Job type: Full-time

Location: Remote (US only)

Job Summary

We are looking for a Payroll & Accounts Payable Analyst to own the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll and vendor payments. You will sit at the heart of our finance operations - ensuring employees and vendors are paid correctly and on schedule, controls are followed, and payroll and A/P data reconcile cleanly to the general ledger.

Responsibilities
  1. Own end-to-end payroll processing across all pay cycles, including new hires, terminations, status changes, bonuses, commissions, and off-cycle runs
  2. Calculate, reconcile, and remit payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and 401(k) contributions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  3. Manage the full accounts payable lifecycle, including invoice intake, GL coding, approval routing, and timely vendor payments via ACH, check, and wire
  4. Perform three-way matching of invoices to purchase orders and receipts, resolving discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders
  5. Maintain vendor master data, collect W-9s, and prepare and file annual 1099s
  6. Reconcile payroll and A/P subledgers to the general ledger and prepare related journal entries and accruals for month-end close
  7. Monitor A/P aging and payment terms to optimize cash flow and capture early-payment discounts
  8. Administer employee expense reimbursements and corporate card programs, ensuring policy compliance
  9. Respond to employee payroll inquiries and vendor payment questions with accuracy, professionalism, and discretion
  10. Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and reconciliations
  11. Maintain and strengthen internal controls across the payroll and A/P functions
  12. Identify and implement opportunities to automate and scale payroll and A/P workflows as the company grows
Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  2. 2-4 years of hands-on payroll and/or accounts payable experience
  3. Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations and wage-and-hour compliance
  4. Solid understanding of A/P processes, GL coding, and accrual accounting fundamentals
  5. Hands-on experience with a payroll platform and an ERP/accounting system
  6. Strong command of Google Sheets and Excel
  7. High degree of accuracy and discretion when handling confidential payroll and financial data
  8. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage recurring, non-negotiable deadlines
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications
  1. FPC or CPP certification, or progress toward a professional payroll or accounting certification
  2. Multi-state payroll experience
  3. Experience with 1099 and monthly/quarterly/year-end payroll tax reporting
  4. Exposure to AI tools or automated accounting and payroll workflows
Compensation & Benefits Notice

The national pay range for this full-time position is base salary of $70,000 -$90,000 USD. All employees are eligible for equity compensation, and employees may also receive performance-based bonuses, dependent on role and subject to company policies. micro1 provides a comprehensive benefits package, including up to 100% reimbursement for health-insurance premiums, paid time off, a 401(K) plan with a company match, and additional benefits designed to support a high-performing, remote-first workforce.
