Job summary

Merck is seeking a Payment Specialist to manage contract-based payees, budgets, and site payments. You will ensure accurate setup, timely processing, and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong Excel skills, organizational abilities, and the capability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment, including handling multiple priorities in a matrix structure. Remote options are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 1 year of experience in payment processing.
• Experience with payment processing procedures and policies is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Review all executed contracts and accurately set-up payees and budget schedules per signed contracts.
• Initiate site payments according to policies and guidelines.
• Process site payments for visits completed, milestones and reimbursement for pass-through expenses per GAAP and Sarbanes–Oxley.
• Route and track payments for approval in a timely manner.
• Answer queries from internal and external customers regarding payments and budgets.
• Maintain information in databases or other tools.
• Organize, store, archive, and retrieve contracts and payment documentation.
• Coordinate records management practices with sponsor’s records management groups.
• Develop and maintain data summary reports and related payment reconciliation reports.
