Job summary

Sentara Health seeks a Payment Policy Research Analyst & Technical Writer to identify, develop, and present cost-saving opportunities in payment and reimbursement policies for SHP. The role blends data insights, policy analysis, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive savings and policy improvements.

You will assess opportunities using data tools, industry trends, and SME input, contributing to policy development, claim edits, and contract strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree required or preferred as noted.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3 years health plan experience or 3 years medical coding is required.
• 3 years health plan claim auditing or appeals is preferred.
• BS/BA/Advanced degree in health care or medical field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research & assessment of internal payment policies & payment solutions to identify new cost savings opportunities.
• Determine potential strategies/solutions to achieve identified cost savings (policy development, criteria, contract strategy).
• Establish relationships with stakeholders to define and deliver payment initiatives and policy development.
