Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Financial Counselor to support our Revenue Cycle Management team. You will help patients understand financial responsibility, collect payments, and assist with billing resolution while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of patient account resolution experience in behavioral healthcare preferred
• Strong understanding of insurance benefit terms and patient financial responsibility
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common EHR systems

Responsibilities

• Provide patient financial counseling and collections to ensure patient understanding of financial responsibilities
• Collect patient payments including deductibles, copays, and coinsurance; set up payment plans when appropriate
• Review accounts receivable for accuracy and resolve billing inquiries
• Document actions to reconcile balances and support payment resolution; identify discrepancies such as adjustments, write-offs, and refunds
• Coordinate with Intake to obtain signed financial documentation and verify patient demographics
