Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to perform Medicare compliance reviews, issue ABNs, and estimate patient financial responsibility. You will coordinate with utilization management, verify insurance eligibility, and register patients for services.

The role requires bilingual English/Spanish, strong customer service, and experience with EMR systems. You will handle payments, payment plans, and communicate with insurers while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

Mature judgement with patients and insurers
Fluent English; bilingual English/Spanish
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and EMR
Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks efficiently
Able to follow HIPAA and CMS guidelines
Experience in customer service and revenue cycle
Basic medical terminology knowledge

Responsibilities

Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue ABNs as needed.
Create accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collect payments or arrange payment plans.
Coordinate with utilization management for pre-authorization and provide necessary information.
Verify insurance eligibility/benefits and obtain pre-authorizations within timeframes.
Register patients for services and collect demographic and insurance details.
Provide exceptional customer service and document conversations with patients/insurers.
Attend meetings and cover PBX when needed; support cashiering and cash reconciliation.
Communicate across departments to improve the patient experience.
