Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking an experienced Patient Access/Cashier role to support Medicare compliance reviews, patient financial responsibilities, and pre-authorization coordination in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The position requires strong customer service skills, HIPAA knowledge, and experience with EMR systems. The role includes registration duties, insurance verification, and collaboration with multiple departments to optimize patient care and billing processes.

Qualifications

• Mature judgement when dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance reps.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with database programs.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and ability to discuss patient information confidentially.
• Strong customer service skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue ABNs as needed.
• Create accurate estimates of patient financial responsibility and arrange payments.
• Coordinate with utilization management for pre-authorizations and provide logistical info to patients.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-authorizations within required timeframes.
• Register patients for services accurately and minimize duplicate records.
• Collect demographic and insurance information and ensure data correctness.
• Provide coverage for assigned areas during shifts and arrange relief as needed.
• Facilitate smooth communication across clinical, ancillary and access teams to improve patient experiences.
• Document payer conversations and payment arrangements with precision.
• Attend team meetings and support positive communication within the unit.
• Provide PBX coverage and handle calls as needed.
• Perform cashiering tasks such as payment collection and cash reconciliation.
