Job summary

UNC Health’s Care Access team seeks a Care Access Representative to serve as the first contact for patients, staff, and physicians. You will schedule outpatient visits, input patient data, check in/out, and coordinate communication across departments.

This fully remote role operates Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm. Experience in customer service and clerical tasks is desired, with a background in patient demographics verification and Epic usage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• 1+ years of customer service and/or clerical experience.
• Knowledge of scheduling and patient registration workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service with a caring, professional demeanor in a busy call center or outpatient setting.
• Verify insurance and patient demographics to ensure accurate registration and billing.
• Answer calls, direct inquiries, and document interactions in the Epic system.
• Schedule outpatient appointments and reschedule when needed to minimize disruptions.
• Collaborate with teammates and participate in departmental quality assurance to reduce errors.
