UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Associate Patient Service Specialist for a remote role based in Worcester, MA. The position supports patient insurance verification, scheduling and education while delivering high-quality customer service within Lean processes.

The role requires at least 1 year of customer service in a clinical setting and EMR experience, with flexibility to work 40 hours weekly during standard business hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
• 1+ years of customer service experience in a clinical setting.
• 1+ years of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
• Must live within commutable distance to Worcester, MA area.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Verifies, re-verifies and authorizes patient insurance coverage and eligibility using registration/scheduling systems.
• Verifies and updates demographic, insurance and other patient information.
• Collects and posts patient co-payments and balances.
• Handles incoming patient-care related calls per department metrics.
• Communicates with providers about scheduling changes and emergencies.
• Educates patients about managed care plans and referral processes.
• Schedules patient visits and procedures for inpatients and outpatients.
