Job summary

ATAN Robotics is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to design and implement robotic automation systems for high-mix manufacturing. The role focuses on programming robotic arms and PLCs, and integrating with ERP/MES workflows, delivering tangible ROI.

You will collaborate with a small, senior team and work with clients directly, balancing fast deployment with long-term maintainability and safety. This is a remote, part-time position with Eastern Time availability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional engineering experience in industrial automation, robotics, or controls.
• Experience programming industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, UR).
• Proficiency with PLC programming, HMI design, and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
• Experience integrating automation with ERP/MES/WMS systems.
• Strong scripting skills (Python, JavaScript) for custom automation workflows.
• Available for client calls and collaboration during Eastern Time business hours.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robotic automation solutions for high-mix manufacturing operations.
• Program and configure robotic arms, PLCs, and automation controllers.
• Integrate robotics with ERP/MES/WMS workflows.
• Collaborate with clients to identify bottlenecks and deliver ROI.
• Provide technical leadership in scoping, prototyping, and deployment phases.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers for seamless integration.
• Participate in client calls and provide clear guidance on automation strategy.
