Job summary

Acorn Product Development, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong project leadership to guide a team in designing innovative robotics and automation products from architecture through release.

The role requires a broad design background, hands-on system bring-up, and expertise in SolidWorks CAD and FEA. Onsite Newark, CA with a two-day-per-week remote option, collaborating across multiple offices.

Qualifications

BSME required; MSME preferred.
Minimum 8+ years of technical system-level design experience from architecture to release to manufacturing.
Project management experience leading cross-functional teams.
Mechatronics expertise: motors, bearings, gear trains, belt drives, sensors.
Experience with motion control hardware and encoders/limit switches.

Responsibilities

Lead a mechanical engineering team designing products with multiple powered DOFs.
Design, build and test systems and critical components.
Brainstorm and compare product architectures against client metrics.
Perform engineering analyses and tests from concept to production verification.
Assist client to define specs, schedules and resources; manage budget and deliverables.
