Job summary

Standard Bots is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer who can bridge mechanical, electrical, and software domains to enable automated cell solutions. You will design proofs of concept, install and commission robots, and train teams on integration.

The role is remote-friendly with West Coast residency preferred, requiring up to 50% travel for hands-on field work, demos, and on-site deployments alongside sales and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years hands-on experience with industrial automation fundamentals (PLC programming, ladder logic, pneumatics, DC power).
• Proficiency in robot programming and Python scripting.
• CAD design capability, SolidWorks preferred; 3D thinking valued.
• Customer-facing experience and ability to explain complex integrations.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work on-site with customers.

Responsibilities

• Design practical, buildable solutions around Standard Bots hardware and validate with a proof of concept.
• Travel to customer sites to install, wire, and commission robotic cells.
• Own integration from mechanical setup to software configuration and testing.
• Train customer operators and technicians on hardware and software usage.
• Support demos at trade shows and contribute to post-install customer support.
