Job summary

TRC Talent Solutions, in partnership with a leading automation systems integrator, is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to lead the design, programming, integration, and startup of custom robotic automation systems for complex manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of hands-on robotics experience, and strong FANUC robot expertise. Travel of 20–25% is expected as projects require on-site deployment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on robotics engineering experience designing systems from the ground up.
• Strong experience with FANUC robots and robotic automation for manufacturing environments.
• Ability to program robots from scratch and troubleshoot complex automation systems.
• Experience with PLC integration and industrial controls platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complete robotic automation solutions from concept through commissioning.
• Partner with sales and engineering teams to evaluate applications and develop automated system concepts.
• Design robotic cells, end-of-arm tooling, fixtures, conveyors, safety systems, and related equipment.
• Program robots from scratch, including tool setup, frame configuration, TCP development, and optimization.
• Integrate machine vision systems and calibrate cameras for automated processes.
• Support PLC integration, handshaking, and controls communication with automation systems.
• Conduct system testing, failure analysis, and validation prior to customer deployment.
• Lead onsite startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support activities.
• Provide technical leadership throughout project execution and customer interactions.

Requirements

• Ability to program robots from scratch and troubleshoot complex automation systems.
• Experience with PLC integration and industrial controls platforms.
• Strong understanding of machine vision, automation design, and system integration.
• Ability to travel 20-25%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with KUKA, ABB, or Motoman robots.
• RIA Expert Certification.
• Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Beckhoff, or B&R PLCs.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and FANUC ROBOGUIDE.
• Experience supporting defense or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
