Job summary

Pearson is seeking a part-time remote Associate, Scoring Services to evaluate responses from New York teacher candidates. You will internalize scoring standards, engage in discussions with fellow scorers, and participate in consensus scoring activities.

Active or recently retired educators with teaching or content-area experience are eligible. Basic computer skills, ability to sit for long periods, and US work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Current teaching certification in the subject area you are applying for and actively teaching or have taught in schools within the last three years (including regular substitute).
• Educators from colleges/universities who have taught or advised in a content area within the last three years.
• Hold a degree in the content area and have held professional employment in the content area within the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by New York teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias (e.g., implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect) and apply strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
