Job summary

Westchester Country Day School seeks an experienced Part-Time Accountant to support financial operations, reporting to the CFO and Finance Director. The role focuses on statements, pledges, and restricted gifts while maintaining flexibility with remote work and on-campus meetings.

Responsibilities include monthly statements, reconciliations, and audit preparation, with a commitment of about 20 hours per month and heavier loads during year-end periods.

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit accounting is preferred.
• Knowledge of Veracross bookkeeping is helpful.
• Experience in the independent school sector is a plus.
• CPA licensure is not required but is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports including position and activity statements.
• Perform general accounting and bookkeeping: journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Reconcile bank and balance-sheet accounts; research discrepancies.
• Track restricted/unrestricted gifts and capital campaign pledges; manage pledge receivables.
• Support annual summer financial audit and tax-related accounting tasks.
