Job summary

Burnett Staffing Specialists is seeking an experienced CPA / Accounting Consultant to provide part-time accounting and financial oversight for a nonprofit organization. The role combines hands-on accounting with high-level financial reporting and annual audit support, with a schedule that adapts to month-end and board meetings.

The on-site requirement is 1–2 days per week for about 4–6 hours per day, with flexibility to handle additional responsibilities remotely.

Qualifications

• CPA strongly preferred.
• Hands-on accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience with grant accounting and reconciliation.
• Comfortable preparing financials for leadership, Finance Committees and Boards.
• Audit and Form 990 support experience preferred.
• Able to work independently and manage responsibilities with limited oversight.
• Flexible workload that may increase around month-end, meetings and annual audit.
• Ability to work both on-site and remotely.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly account reconciliations and general accounting activities
• Prepare and cut vendor checks
• Reconcile grant revenue and related financial activity
• Ensure private foundation grant funds and transactions are accurately recorded
• Prepare monthly internal financial statements and reports
• Assist with budgeting and financial analysis
• Prepare financial information for Finance Committee and Board meetings
• Support the annual audit process, which occurs each October
• Provide accounting and Form 990 support throughout the year
• Maintain accurate financial records and provide consistent accounting oversight
• Work collaboratively with internal team members to reconcile funding and financial activity
