Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking a Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design and joint-use engineering for electric and telecommunications utilities. This remote opportunity focuses on evaluating pole conditions, ensuring NESC clearances, and creating construction-ready make-ready designs.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in make-ready or electric distribution design, with strong CAD/MicroStation experience and familiarity with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or related platforms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use, or electric power distribution design
• Experience with utility pole design, NESC, clearance analysis, and construction-ready packages
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; familiarity with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar platforms
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel; authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders meeting quality, schedule, and budget
• Review field data, pole information, attachments, and existing utility conditions
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole replacements and attachments
• Apply NESC requirements, utility standards, and client design criteria
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design and support overhead distribution design
• Conduct permitting and easement research including pole ownership and ROW
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve design conflicts and field-data discrepancies
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS and related systems
• Perform quality-control reviews to ensure complete deliverables
