Job summary

UCHealth is seeking a Remote Outpatient Coder to join the UCHlth Outpatient Coding 2 - OBSERVATION SERVICE LINE. The role ensures coding data integrity by reviewing diagnosis and procedure code assignments and validating MS-DRG, APC, or RVU designations.

You will conduct internal quality reviews, provide coding education to staff and leadership, respond to coding questions, and analyze coded claims to justify code selections.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Coding-related certification from AHIMA or AAPC required.
• Certified Hospital Outpatient Coder
• Certified Coding Specialist
• Certified Professional Coder
• Certified Prof. Coder Apprentice
• Registered Health Info Technician
• Certified Outpatient Coder
• 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts internal quality reviews, in accordance with the Coding Compliance Plan.
• Reviews government, commercial and other external audits; conducts internal audits as requested.
• Presents coding education to staff, leadership and others; provides training.
• Responds to coding questions submitted throughout the Health System; reviews physician queries for appropriateness.
• Reviews coded claims data in response to denials and customer service requests; provides rationale for code assignments.
• Demonstrates critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Education
