Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Coding Quality Analyst to review patient records, extract data, and craft defensible appeal letters using ICD-9/ICD-10, CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines. You will educate clients on proper coding and compliance, and identify coding changes to impact payments.

The role supports telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. with strong typing, communication, and HIPAA requirements, and requires collaboration with Optum/OPAS teams.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must hold CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, CPC, RHIT, RHIA, CDIP or CCDS.
  • 3+ years inpatient hospital coding experience.
  • 3+ years DRG methodology experience.
  • 3+ years outpatient coding experience.
  • 2+ years Medicare/Medicaid experience.
  • Mastery of ICD-9-CM and ICD-10 coding knowledge.
  • Typing speed minimum 45 words per minute.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to approved schedule and punctuality.
  • Compose appeal letters with data extraction and literature references.
  • Utilize encoders and ICD-9/ICD-10, CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS guidelines.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and data security.
  • Support and promote OPAS, Optum, and enterprise goals.
  • Participate in ALJ hearings as needed; deliver timely reviews.
