Pena4 Inc in New York, NY seeks a Medical Coder (Outpatient) for 100% remote, part-time (~20 hours). You will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for outpatient services to support accurate reimbursement and regulatory reporting.

Requirements include five+ years HIM/outpatient facility coding, CCS or CPC, AHIMA/AAPC credentials, and EMR experience (Epic/Powerchart preferred). Start date within 1–2 weeks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of HIM and outpatient facility coding experience.
• Associates degree preferred in Health Information Management or related field; higher degrees advantageous.
• CCS or CPC certification required; RHIA/RHIT/ CCS-P etc preferred.

Responsabilités

• Review outpatient records to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures; ensure accurate sequencing.
• Ensure documentation supports DRG/APC, SOI and ROM; obtain optimal DRG assignments.
• Query providers when documentation is incomplete or unclear; escalate as needed.
• Meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks (e.g., 95% DRG accuracy).
• Collaborate with CDI, compliance and billing teams; participate in audits and education initiatives.
• Work as part of a team to meet department and client goals; complete all assignments reliably.
