This remote contractor role requires CPC certification and strong ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS knowledge. You will ensure compliance with E&M guidelines and support AI training through high-quality coding data. Flexible scheduling nationwide.

Qualifications

• Active CPC certification.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II.
• Experience applying outpatient E&M coding guidelines.
• Hands-on outpatient coding in physician offices or hospital outpatient settings.
• Understanding of coding compliance and medical necessity standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and annotate outpatient medical records across physician offices, specialty clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and hospital outpatient services.
• Assign and validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation.
• Apply E&M coding guidelines using medical decision-making or total-time methodologies.
• Ensure outpatient coding compliance, diagnosis coding guidelines, modifier usage, and medical necessity requirements.
• Link diagnoses to procedures and services performed.
• Review coding scenarios and identify documentation gaps or discrepancies.
• Provide detailed feedback on coding decisions and complex coding situations.
• Collaborate with project teams to clarify coding requirements and resolve documentation ambiguities.
• Contribute to high-quality datasets used to improve AI understanding of medical coding workflows.
