Job summary

Synthires is seeking experienced Medical Coders to contribute to AI training projects by reviewing, annotating, and validating outpatient documentation. You will assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes with E/M guidelines while ensuring compliance and medical necessity. This is a remote contractor role for US-based professionals.

No prior AI experience is required; focus on accurate coding and detailed feedback to support dataset development for AI systems.

Qualifications

• Active CPC certification required.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
• Experience applying outpatient E/M coding guidelines.
• Hands-on outpatient coding in physician offices, clinics, ASC, or hospital outpatient departments.
• Strong understanding of coding compliance, documentation, and medical necessity.

Responsibilities

• Review and annotate outpatient medical records (office visits, clinics, ambulatory surgery, hospital outpatient services).
• Assign and validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation.
• Apply E/M coding guidelines using medical decision-making or time methods.
• Ensure outpatient coding compliance and proper modifier usage.
• Link diagnoses to procedures and services performed.
• Identify documentation gaps and coding inconsistencies; provide feedback.
