Job summary

Optum is a global organization delivering care with technology to improve health outcomes. As an Outpatient Medical Coder Edits, you will remotely determine CPT and ICD-10 codes for various same-day surgeries and complex cases, ensuring accuracy per coding policies and documentation.

The role is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with flexible 8-hour shifts and nationwide telecommuting from the United States. You will provide feedback to physicians and maintain current coding knowledge through QM and

Qualifications

• 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience for all chart types, same day surgery, observation, ED, ancillary services, and clinics.
• CPT and ICD-10-CM coding expertise required.
• Ability to use a PC in Windows, MS Excel, and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate CPT and ICD-10 coding for outpatient surgery, observation, CVIR, ER, and ancillary services per guidelines.
• Apply coding knowledge to analyze/correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity accounts.
• Understand APC codes and abstract data elements during chart review.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge as directed by QM Manager and Directors.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
