Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders to join our remote team. The role emphasizes accurate diagnosis and procedure coding, data abstraction, and compliance with AHIMA/AAPC guidelines to support healthcare stakeholders.

Ideal candidates hold RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC credentials, have 2+ years in hospital coding, and are proficient with Injection/Infusion coding and E/M leveling. We provide CEUs, equipment, and strong mentorship.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required (RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC, CPC-H, COC, CRC).
• Minimum 2+ years of coding experience in a hospital or coding consulting role.
• Proficiency with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Proficiency with Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication; adept at remote work; strong time management.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Must pass annual HIPAA exam and related testing.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on medical record documentation.
• Assign discharge dispositions appropriately.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to relevant personnel.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% APC assignment accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings.
