Job summary

e4health is seeking an Outpatient Coder for a remote, PRN role (10-20 hours per week). The coder will abstract data into client EMR systems following ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, AMA CPT guidelines, and CMS directives, maintaining 95%+ accuracy and productivity standards.

Required AHIMA or AAPC credential and minimum 3 years of coding experience, with trauma level 1 and teaching facility experience preferred. Spinal procedures and related grafting experience is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.
• Minimum 3 years’ coding experience required; Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facility experience preferred.
• Must have extensive experience coding: spinal procedures, including complex spinal fusions, revisions, hardware removal/replacement, interbody procedures, decompressions, and related grafting. Along with general surgery, wound care.

Responsibilities

• Assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers to facility-based Ancillary, Emergency Department, Observation, and/or Outpatient Surgery Accounts as per designated workflow
• Abstracts and enters coded data and/or charges for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
• Queries physicians to clarify conflicting, imprecise, incomplete, ambiguous, and/or inconsistent clinical information when appropriate
• Communicates documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow up and resolution
• Communicates with Clinical Documentation Improvement and/or Revenue Cycle teams for follow up and reconciliation of accounts
• Maintains required productivity and quality requirements
